Unintentionally Sexual Church signs

Even the church uses sexual advertising. Is that what you need to get people into the church these days?

Burger King Seven-Inch Sandwich Ad

This Burger King ad created for the Singaporean market drove a lot of criticism saying it was vulgar, condescending and offensive. While I couldn’t find any information on Burger King’s target audience in Singapore, this ad would never work in more conservative countries such as the US or England, where Burger King’s audience are families. I think it’s funny, and as Gawker reported, the only thing the ad is missing “is the disclaimer that you’ll actually get fewer blowjobs if you eat these sandwiches, but perhaps that’s the “genius” of advertising that we simpletons on the outside just don’t get.”

It’s Never Just HIV Ad

This HIV prevention ad for homosexuals ran here in the US in big networks and cable channels such as Logo. With the invention of HIV medication, now more than ever, the number of people having unprotected sex have been increasing significantly. It is true that in the homosexual community these numbers have been increasing in higher number and, in fact, a many of them are seeking to intentionally contract the virus, especially between the younger generation- some of them suffer from anxiety attack (they are so scared to get the virus that they just want to get the worry over and contract it), while others seek fluid bonding or think that there is a cure for HIV with the medication, among many other reasons. However, while it may be necessary to be aggressive when sending the message that HIV still has several implications, that people still die of related-diseases and that using protection is necessary, it may be insensitive to others in the gay community who caught the virus (maybe because their condom broke or other reasons), are honest about their status and use protection and are just trying to lead a normal life. I do think that this commercial may be aggressive and insulting to some people but it is necessary to send this kind of message considering the the high numbers of gay men seeking to purposefully contract the virus or having unprotected sex.

Wendy’s spicy sandwich- Katerin Argueta

This ad is from united kingdom and it i an ad for ice cream. It says “submit to temptation” which is why they used a male and a nun witch is not morally correct. I really do not understand why they would use this to advertise ice cream though. This advertisement actually has left me confused. This is probably why it was banned.

This Commercial was never aired by wendy’s. I feel like it was trying to get across how spicy the new sandwich was to persuade customers who love spicy food to go out and challenge themselves. While the commercial is basically saying the sandwich is to much for any spicy food lover to handle, It ended up associating the sandwich with death.

Dos Equis

This Ad is for the Mexican beer ‘Dos Equis’. I could definitely see how this ad could offend women, but I think thats the point of the ad. Well, not so much to offend Women, but to make more pronounced that this is more of a “Man’s” Beer. Although I’m not to sure how well this type of marketing works for Men to drink this Beer, but I did find it funny. I am a woman, but if you don’t look into this too seriously, it is a bit humorous, well with the 2 men and the caption on top. I don’t think this ad is meant to offend Women too much, just to keep things light, humorous, and fun, which is feeling I think they want their drinkers to associate with this beer.

Ikea: french commercial

This was a French Commercial for Ikea. I think for most of us, when we think Ikea, we think of affordable furniture, but still cute and chic. We tend to have a more family oriented vision of this brand. But when you watch this commercial, it is anything but family-time appropriate. If you had not read the Title before watching the Video, i’m sure most would not have guessed that this was a commercial for the Ikea brand that we  know in the US. The commercial begins like it would be for something more sex-oriented like condoms, or maybe a fragrance or even jeans, but after the make-out scene in the elevator, and the couple going into the room and kicking the one girl out, boom! “IKEA: solutions pour petits espaces” which means ‘Solutions for small spaces.’ It’s kind of hard to get the idea that Ikea is really the solution for small spaces from this commercial, but i’m assuming that this sort of advertising works in France where their viewers might need something sexy like this in order to grab their attention. I don’t think this type of commercial would work just anywhere. Even in the US. Yes, we tend to like the sexy commercials as well, but usually only when it relates or makes sense. I feel like if this commercial were to come out in the US, viewers would be left with the thought, “What, just happened?” or “What was that?” sort of response.

Neighbors in FedEx World

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Very smart and straight-forward. The campaign is called “Neighbors” and it not only stresses the speed with which FedEx delivers its orders around the world, but also sends a strong message of global communication. We are all neighbors after all.

The ad was created by DDB Brasil and consists of three images illustrating neighbors from different countries exchanging packages through the windows.

Condom Ad Broadcasted in Africa

This Calvin Klein advertisement was banned in Australia. While it seems like any other ad you would find in the pages of various fashion magazines in the United States, Australia banned it because officials said it “promoted gang rape and violence.”

This condom advertisement was broadcasted in Africa. It is very amusing but also plays a big role in trying to help spread awareness of the AIDs problem them have going on in the country. The advertisement includes a good looking male and female walking down a crowded street towards each other. As the wind blows, the cover of the females umbrella blows away. To the rescue comes the handsome man who pulls out a pack of Trust Condoms and opens it up, only to put it over the umbrella. Not only is it trying to say to it’s viewers “use a condom,” it is insinuating to viewers how well endowed it’s African clientele must be. It has always been a cultural joke that Africans were “bigger” then most. Very amusing commercial!

Porsche ads

These are some Porsche advertisements using sex theme. The best way to attract guys is definitely sexual appeal. Guys don’t really pay attention to ads and they know ads are only trying to sell whatever they promote. But, isn’t sexual theme certainly going to grab their attention? I’m not so sure about the first one but the second one is banned in many countries. These ones are effective in American or other European magazines but they can’t even be published in many Asian countries, except for Japan I believe. There was one Corona beer commercial featuring a girl groaning (it only shows her face and upper body but very suggestive of her having sex) which was published only in Japan but banned in many other Asian countries.

Never Say NO to Panda

This commercial is brilliant. Pandas are cute, pandas are extinct – everybody loves them, period. Cute panda with evil intensions is even better))

Advertised Panda Cheese is produced by Egyptian company Arab Dairy. Cheese itself has absolutely nothing to do with panda (no panda milk in it and no panda was harmed in making this commercial). Hilarious and dark  – it appeals to every age group, except maybe for babies who probably don’t know that pandas are cute. 😉

The campaign was created by Advantage Marketing and Advertising and won the Silver Lion award in 2010 at Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
